Whatever happened to that idea that laws were being broken when advertisers lie publicly, especially on television?? I am personally fed up with listening to their constant lies all over my TV; they make me very angry and turn my stomach on a daily basis! Citibank and HESTA (Oz Super) are the offenders currently making my blood boil!
The False Advertising from Citibank is delivered hourly through constantly advertising how their low honeymoon credit card interest rates will save you $1,000s in interest, all this in the very same ad showing in extra fine print the true interest rate charged from day one is now up to nearly 25%! Citibank's fees and interest rates have always been among the worst in Australia and in direct contradiction to their lying ads, they have only gotten worse since they began their current disinformation campaign rising by more than 20%!
HESTA (Oz Super), like so many other superannuation firms under the "Industry umbrella", claim their funds are run ONLY to benefit members having low fees and paying no commissions to brokers. LIES! I know from my own experience HESTA's fees are among the worst, eating up over $2000 of my own super, entirely in fees, within just three years leaving me with a completely empty account!!
I have more respect for those sleazy, ludicrously overpriced, pornographic mobile phone download vendors than I do for Citibank and HESTA and really most financial services companies quite frankly. At least the pornography peddlers are right up front about how they are going to rob you...and they do it honestly and transparently! Their prices are indeed outrageous, but you do know ahead of time what you're buying and you do get what you paid for...which is far more than you can say for other television advertisers.
